Did you know that Western Bagel "The Bagel That Won The West®" is based in the 20th District? Western Bagel is headquartered in Van Nuys. Opened in 1947, Western Bagel was the first bagel bakery in Los Angeles. Now, 60 years later, they have eleven retail locations and distribute nationally and internationally.
Senator Padilla with SB 1420's Sponsors and Gov Schwarzenegger In September Senator Padilla's SB 1420 was signed into law making California the first state in the nation to tackle obesity with menu labeling on a statewide level. SB 1420 requires restaurant chains with 20 or more locations to post calorie information on their menus and indoor menu boards. More than 17,000 restaurant locations throughout California will post calorie information on menus and menu boards by January 1, 2011. Watch the signing ceremony here.
